The Holy Synod of the Church of Greece holds the 8th International Scientific Conference as part of the total 10 conferences it has undertaken to organize for the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution of 1821.

During the Conference, with the central theme “Great figures of the Greek Revolution, Unity and Strife during the Revolution”, several experts and history researchers will deliver speeches that will shed light to the various aspects of the thoughts and actions of great personalities during the Greek Revolution who left their mark. Historical male figures such as Alexandros Mavrokordatos, Spyridon Tricoupis, Rigas Fereos, Archimandrite Gregorios Dikeos Papaflessas, and female figures such as Laskarina Pinotsi, and Manto Mavrogenous, will be presented through the eyes of the speakers who will talk about their contribution to the revolution, to education, to the formation of a unified national and cultural identity, and to the conservation of the Orthodox faith.

His Beatitude Ieronymos, Archbishop of Athens and All Greece will open the conference, followed by the President of the Special Synodical Committee for Cultural Identity Metropolitan Ignatios of Demetrias and Almyros on October 18-19, 2019. Synodical Megaron of the Church of Greece.
