Christianity Art galleries at the most prominent places in the Orthodox world

When visiting churches and monasteries of the Orthodox world, the faithful have the chance to take with them something that will remind them of the spiritual grandeur they experienced in their visits. Inspired by Byzantine Iconography works, and strengthened by praying in front of centuries-old icons of Christianity, visitors from all over the world have the opportunity to spend time in some amazingly rich shops that can be found in monasteries and churches.

Those shops display icons that combine Orthodox Iconography and Byzantine fine art, while boasting of the authenticity of their acclaimed creators-iconographers. In addition, such items are approved and certified by the holy places that make them available to the public. Christianity Art holds a prominent place in those shops and has been doing so in the last 40 years of its dynamic presence in the field of Byzantine Iconography. There is no place of monastic or church life that Christianity Art has not approached, as the only company in the Orthodox world that produces authentic icons with spiritual, artistic and collectible value.

The Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopaidi, Mount Athos

The shop of the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopaidi, one of the most ancient monasteries that exist until today, is itself a small ‘icon museum’. Vatopaidi is second in hierarchy on Mount Athos and one of the most exquisite monasteries in Greece.

Shop visitors can find a wide range of icons of unique value to choose from, in order to add to the spiritual memorabilia that will remind them of the holy place they visited and the emotions they experienced.

The Holy Monastery of Iveron (or Iviron), Mount Athos

The shop of the Iviron Monastery, this emblematic 8th century monastery on the north-east side of the Athos peninsula, has its own long history. Christianity Art is part of this history, supplying unique masterpieces, certified true copies of the original Byzantine Iconography icons.

The Metochi of Saint Nicholas (Dependency of) Mount Athos, Porto Lagos

This impressive ‘floating’ monastery of Saint Nicholas in Porto Lagos is the Metochi (Dependency of) the Monastery of Vatopaidi, Mount Athos. The Metochi streches on two small islands that lie in the lagoon of Porto Lagos. The church of Saint Nicholas, the monastery’s ‘landlord’, is built on the larger island, whereas on the smaller one lies the chapel of Panayia Pantanassa. In this small church, visitors can find a true copy of the wonder-worker icon of Panayia Pantanassa that lives in the Monastery of Vatopaidi on Mount Athos. Christianity Art items can be found at the Metochi shop, and visitors have the unique opportunity to add to their memorabilia a wide range of different items that will remind them of this unique place.

The Holy Monastery of Simonopetra, Mount Athos

The Holy Patriarchal and Stavropegic Monastey of Simonopetra, is 13th in the hierarchy of the 20 monasteries on Mount Athos. It lies 300 m above sea level, built on granite rock. The monastery, that consists of a seven-storey tower, is one of the most daring examples of Byzantine Architecture. The monastery’s main church (Katholikon) is dedicated to the Nativity of Christ. Christianity Art could not be absent from such a holy place.

Patriarchate of Jerusalem

The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem has a large number of unique Christianity Art icons in its shop.

Saint Dionysios, Zakynthos

Visitors and pilgrims to the Holy Church of Saint Dionysios, the patron Saint of Zakynthos, the Saint of Forgiveness, have the opportunity to acquire a holy icon from the shop that is based inside the church.

The Holy Monastery of Saint Lazarus, Cyprus

In Larnaka, the Ancient Kition, lies one of the most beautiful churches in Cyprus, the church of Saint Lazarus, the friend of Christ. The church is built upon Saint Lazarus’ tomb, who was the first Bishop of Kition, according to tradition. Christianity Art supplies the Holy Monastery with unique items of Byzantine Iconography.

The Holy Monastery of Arkadi, Crete

The Holy Monastery of Arkadi lies on a small leafy plateau, on the strategic north-west side of Mount Ida (or Psiloritis). The plateau hangs over the canyon that connects the municipalities of Rethymno, Mylopotamos and Amari.

The most important part of the Monastery of Arkadi is the main church, a two-nave catholicon, dedicated to the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ (north nave) and the Saints Constantinos and Eleni (south nave). The monastery is surrounded by a wall, and inside the wall there is a number of auxiliary buildings.

According to an inscription found on the bell tower, the church was founded in 1587. Visitors and pilgrims can find a plethora of unique Christianity Art items in its shop.
