In Rhodes, there is a beautiful Monastery, Tharri, built in the 5th century A.D. on the ruins of the temple of Apollo. However the Monastery was destroyed and the remains of the old building can be seen around the existing new temple which was built between the 9th and 11th century in two phases, by a woman suffering from an incurable illness who was miraculously cured by Archangel Michael. The dedicated temple to Archangel Michael stands out for its imposing dome and its frescos. Two of the oldest frescos dated from the end of the 12th century, Saint Eleftherios and Saint Gregorios Akragantinos are kept in the byzantine museum of Rhodes. The imposing in size fresco of Archangel Michael has been almost destroyed in full and is surrounded by Archangel Gabriel and Archangel Raphael.
