One of them, Efstratios, a highly ranked army officer was arrested, tortured and transferred to the province governor Agricolas, an atrocious and cruel man who enjoyed the torturing of the Christians. Saint Efstatios was burned alive after he was violently tortured. His Skull is housed in the Great Lavra Monastery of Mount Athos. A part of his relics, his hand, is housed in the Monastery Koutloumousiou of Mount Athos.
