The Annunciation
The Monastery of Mount Athos with the largest number of edifices constitutes a complex that among others has a nave, the main temple, where some walled-in pieces of art are preserved, unique because of the materials used, their elaborated work and the amazing results.
The nave dated already from the 10th century is dedicated to the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary. The Annunciation scene is located at the pillars below the dome, dating between the beginning of the 11th century and the beginning of the 12th century. The presentation of the Annunciation is prestigiously located in order to emphasize the dedicatory character of the Monastery.
